Frequently Asked Questions

Who is this camp for?

This camp is open to all martial artists regardless of experience level, whether you are new to Kali / Filipino Martial Arts or have years of training experience. The sessions are designed to challenge and inspire everyone.
Black Belts may be invited to Master Classes, to further challenge and inspire.

What does the daily schedule look like?

The camp balances high quality training sessions with downtime to relax and explore Bali.

We train in one solid block of four hours, 9am-1pm. with hourly short breaks for water/snacks.
One day training will be in the afternoon, 1pm-5pm, to make the morning available for excursions etc...
Master Classes will be the hour immediately before the above stated training hours.
The rest of the time is available for you to relax, network, explore and enjoy, to simply THRIVE!

What training equipment do I need to bring?

We will provide all registered participants with a recommended packing list, especially useful for those who aren't used to travelling. Feel free to use any protective equipment that you want. Some people wear eye protection and sometimes forearm guards.
Your travel bags will need to fit some sticks. Just a normal carry on would obviously not suffice...

We can already let you know that you will NOT need to bring boxing gloves or shin guards.

What is included in the training fee?

Five days of world class training, 4 hours per day.

If you're a Black Belt you may be invited to Master Classes (at a small additional cost), that is one extra hour of training every day.
Limited edition camp t-shirt (ladies sizes available).

A pair of rattan sticks

A training weapon, depending on what the instructors are teaching
An interactive magazine with links to tons of information

NOT included:
Flights, travel, transfer
Accommodation
Food & drinks

What about accommodation and flights?

Click the link in the menu above for further information about the resort we stay and train at. There is also some information about how to book flights, when to travel in/out and how to arrange transfer to and from the resort.

Can I bring my family/spouse?

Absolutely. We actually encourage you to! The camp aims to balance high quality training sessions with downtime to relax and explore Bali.
We train 9am to 1pm. This leaves the rest of the day open to spend with family and friends.
At the 2025 camp we had 28 people training and 17 family members joining us, everything from spouses, kids, girlfriends to parents, at 2026 camp we're looking at about 65 people all up with participants, spouses, partners and kids!

This is very different from the hard core boot camp style camps many of us have experienced previously where training was 7am to 7pm and every break was needed for recovery.

We want you to be able to Train, Relax and Thrive! One day training will be in the afternoon to make the morning available for excursions etc...

Do I need a Visa?

Yes you do.
Apply beforehand or at arrival (about AU$50).
See visa requirements here:

https://bali.com/bali/bali-visa-indonesia-entry-regulations/bali-visa-regulations-per-country-nationality/

You also need a customs declaration and pay a tourism levy. All links will be provided and sent to you as we get closer to camp.

You do also need a travel insurance! No exceptions! Don't take the risk, insure yourself!

What about Wi-Fi or eSIM?

Wi-Fi is available almost everywhere, especially at the hotels and at restaurants. It is however of a somewhat unreliable island standard so if you may want to download/upload files for remote work or demanding applications, you may have to ask around for the best connection.

eSIM was very easy, comparatively cheap and if you have a smartphone that supports it I can strongly recommend it.

I bought a 30GB data pack and I used less than 10GB over 12 days, despite uploading clips to Instagram from camp every day.
eSIM is perfect as WhatsApp is the main means of communication during camp.
Links to good eSIM providers will be sent and shared when we get closer to the camp dates.

Is membership in any organisation needed?

NO.

Despite the camp being organised in cooperation with the World FMA Alliance, Kali Sikaran Alliance and Kali FMA Association of Western Australia, there is no need to be a member to enjoy this camp. We are so tired of the politics in martial arts that we almost have an allergic reaction to it!
If you're a cool person, you're welcome to join.

Cancellation policy

Things happen, usually very unexpected, and there's usually no fun story behind it. That is why only the deposit of AU$100 (60 Euro) is non refundable. Our aim is to refund whatever has been paid beyond that.
